About:

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was established by the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly under the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Act No. XVI of 2002. The Jammu & Kashmir Wakf Council provides support to the University. "Read in the name of GOD who created all that exists" is the university's motto, "Iqra bismi Rabbik alladi Khalaq." It embodies the university's ideals and aspirations. The Act specifies the university's goals, which include doing research in foundational and career-oriented subjects and importing high-quality education.As a result, the university provides a range of educational programs in information technology, computer sciences, biosciences, social sciences, and business management.

The university's campus is situated at Rajouri, at the base of the massive Pir Panjal mountain range in Himachal Pradesh. Jammu, the state capital during the winter, is 154 kilometers away. The three and a half hour drive between Jammu and Kashmir is a captivating experience thanks to frequent bus service, shared taxis, and video coaches that wind their way past glittering streams through densely forested areas.

Rich physical, climatic, and cultural diversity may be found in the area where the university is situated. In the southern regions, the climate is subtropical, whereas in the northern mountain edges, it is moderate. Winter temperatures average 7ºC, while summer temperatures average 37ºC. Rainfall totals are 500 mm on average each year. The Rajouri-Poonch region is a haven for nature lovers, boasting the majestic snow-capped peaks of the great Himalaya, abundant biodiversity, and valuable agri-diversity.
