The UJJAIN Engineering College Ujjain, formerly known as Govt. Engineering College, was founded in 1966 by the M.P. government with the goal of enhancing technical education. Thus, it may be possible to generate qualified engineering graduates who may be in charge of accelerating the nation's increasing industrialization. Civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering were the only three specializations available at first. Later, branches of Chemical Engineering (1986) and Electronics Engineering (1985) were established. The B.E. course in computer science and engineering was also started in the 2001–2002 school year.
In 1998, the state government granted the college autonomy. Under this system, it is run by a Governing Body, whose Secretary is the Principal of Engineering College, Ujjain, and Chairman is the Minister of Technical Education and Skill Development Department of the Government of M.P. Quality graduating engineers in a variety of engineering specialties have been produced by this college, and they have found employment in practically all of the nation's main public and commercial sectors.
